Team spirit and momentum are driving Witham Town forwards in league and cup competitions, according to defender Bradley Stopher.

The Witham centre-half scored the first goal in their 2-1 win against Thurrock in the Essex Senior Cup fourth round on Tuesday and they head to Waltham Forest tomorrow sitting third in Ryman One North.

Things are certainly looking good for Town, but it has been no overnight success and Stopher attributes the current run to Witham’s collective togetherness.

“I think it has been building for a while,” he said.

“There’s a good team spirit and I think that pulls us through a lot of games.

“It got us into the play-offs last season basically.

“We’ve lost a couple and added a couple since then, but the team spirit is still good.

“That’s the main part of this football club – a good bunch of lads who just want to play and win for each other.

“We just need to keep the momentum going and be pushing from the front this year rather than having to come from behind.”

Witham will have Paul King back from illness for the game at Wlatham Forest and Kris Newby after he was unavailable in midweek, but Sam Taylor, Craig Emery and Rob Whitnell are all out injured.
