Braintree Town have confirmed that assessment forms have been sent to the Football League as part of their potential application to seek promotion from the Conference Premier division at the end of this season.
The Iron already have a Football Association A-rated ground grading for the Amlin Stadium and therefore already meet the Football League's qualification Criteria for entry.
However, if they do successfully gain promotion, they would be required to meet the Football League's admission criteria by May 1 in its first season and its membership criteria by 1 May in its third season.
Both criteria will include increases to total stadium capacity of 5,000, together with seating of 1,000 and subsequently 2,000.
The club are now awaiting a response from the Football League after making the application.
