Braintree Town secured all three points at the Deva Stadium.

The Iron won their Skrill Premier match 2-0 against ten-man Chester.

Braintree started the game brightly and had the majority of the play and chances in the first half.

Sean Marks had a good right-footed shot saved in the third minute.

Marks was denied again when his header was saved after a cross from Chez Issac six minutes later.

The Iron were in control and just on the quarter-hour mark an Issac’s shot from distance went just wide.

However, the visitors’ grip on the game increased on 31 minutes when Chester’s Paul Linwood was given a straight red card, as last man, when he fouled Dan Holman who was going through on goal.

Worse was to follow for Chester, nothing came from the Iron’s initial free-kick but Chester hadn’t retreated the full distance and the referee ordered it to be retaken.

Dan Holman’s second attempt took a huge deflection and sailed in to the back of the net for lead on 33 minutes.

Four minutes later it was almost 2-0 for the Iron but Dan Sparkes effort was well saved.

Lewis Turner tried to level the scores for Chester just before half-time but his effort from distance was saved.

After the break, Braintree continued to be the dominant force.

And they made this pay on 57 minutes with a fantastic individual goal from Holman.

The Iron player ghosted past the Chester defence and fired a left-foot strike into the top corner from outside the box.

Braintree closed the game out for the rest of the half restricting Chester to a few half-chances as they picked up the three points.
