BRAINTREE Town boss Angelo Harrop was left frustrated after his side were denied victory at Hampton and Richmond by a last-gasp penalty.
The Iron were heading to a notable away win in their National League South clash at in-form Hampton when they took an 81st-minute lead through Reggie Lambe’s deflected strike.
Shaquille Coulthirst hit the woodwork soon after for Braintree before they conceded a penalty in the fourth minute of stoppage time which was converted by Ben Seymour converted, as the hosts took a point in a 1-1 draw.
Harrop told the Braintree Town website: “It’s so disappointing.
“How we haven’t come away with three points is beyond me.
“I went into the dressing room and told the players how well they had done but to concede the way we did with that penalty...I need to watch it back.
“I feel like it’s a silly mistake from us and it’s a dubious penalty but the boys were outstanding.
“Hampton are a very, very good side - they’re ten unbeaten and I think have won nine of those.
“We knew it would be tough but I thought we were outstanding and it’s really disappointing for this football club that we didn’t come away with the three points.
“We played really well; we were on the front foot and played some lovely football.
“When you score in the 85th minute, we looked really exciting as a team and I love it when we go ahead because we play with a lot of flair and we’re really front foot.”
Braintree handed a debut to new signing Andronicos Georgiou, at Hampton and Richmond.
Braintree are without a game, this weekend; they are next in National League South action when they host Essex neighbours Aveley at Cressing Road, on December 16.
