CHAY Cooper has signed for National League new boys Braintree Town after rejecting a new contract at Colchester United.
The 22-year-old attacker has become the latest former U's player to join Angelo Harrop's newly-promoted side, after leaving Colchester.
Cooper was one of four out-of-contract players offered fresh terms by Colchester at the end of last season.

The former Spurs youngster made 21 league and cup appearances for Colchester since joining them in September, 2021.
He played 15 times for the U’s first team last season but is yet to play under the Cowleys and spent part of the second half of the 2023-24 campaign on loan at National League side, Hartlepool United.

Speaking earlier this month about the contracts offered to Cooper and fellow out-of-contract player Al-Amin Kazeem, U's boss Danny Cowley said: “We’ve made offers to both young players and we’ll see how that unfolds.
“They have to make good decisions for their career as well and we totally respect that.”
Cooper joins fellow former Colchester players Marley Marshall Miranda, Ryan Clampin and Freddie Sears at Braintree, while former U's duo Harrop and his assistant John White are in charge of the newly-promoted National League club.
