A WITHAM dance group has won gold, silver and bronze medals at the prestigious Dance World Cup in Prague.

Complete Dance Studios, which is based in the High Street, returned home from the Dance World Cup 2024, which was held in Prague where more than 9,000 dancers from over 50 countries competed.

In the junior league, Complete Dance Studios won two golds, for soloist Kennedy-May McCleary and for the Junior Team for ‘Team England’, one silver and one bronze for England.

In the senior league, in the second half of the competition which was held a week later, soloist dancers came in fourth, fifth, and sixth place competing against the entire world.

Emma Deal's daughter Poppy, aged six, competed in the Junior team.

Emma said it was a “big deal" to qualify in the first place, with all the girls having to their film their submission pieces in the studio.

Before any medals were handed out, there was a special opening ceremony and parade through the old town of Prague, which saw a flash mob of boys and girls dancing.

On the underground system in Prague, students from Complete Dance Studios were congratulated by other schools due to their recognisable English-style outfirs.

Emma said: “As much as you want your own dance school to win, you are fundamentally representing your own country - you are rooting for the other English teams.”

“To be there for your own child’s experience is great, but also to see the whole team succeed is out of this world."
