ANGELO Harrop says Braintree Town will forever hold a place in his heart following his departure from the club.

Harrop parted company with Iron on Wednesday, after two and a half years as their first-team manager.

He led the club to a memorable promotion to the National League last season and also took them to the National League South play-offs and Essex Senior Cup Final win, in 2023.

Harrop has since sent a message, thanking the club's fans for their support and wishing the Iron the best for the future.

Writing on social media, Harrop said: 'Where do i Start?!?!

"What an incredible 3 seasons it has been with the club.

"From the first day of entering the club, the fans have been nothing but phenomenal.

"From winning the Essex Senior Cup in season 1, to witnessing Reggie scoring the winning goal, a diving header, to clinch promotion to the National League.

"The celebrations that occurred on the pitch after the whistle are memories that will live with me for a life time.

"Being able to walk out at Oldham away in the opening game of the National League was a proud moment for me and how far we had come together, a journey i would not change for the world.

"A big thank you to my staff over the course of these seasons, Whitey, Bruvs, Justin, Pitty and Joycey.

"To the best kit men in non league of Rob and club legend Ritchie, without forgetting James; The secretary who does so much great work for limited recognition, and an all round great guy.

"Braintree will forever hold a special place in my heart and i wish the very best for the club in the future.

"I would like to think i have achieved all I can beyond their expectations from the beginning, and built a foundation for the future successor.

"Im sure our paths will cross again but for now its goodbye to the Iron Army.

"Ang."
